After over 20 years, there’s been some significant changes within the world of Bushman’s Revenge. So, what’s new? Well, they have a new member, the one and only Tor Egil Kreken – bass player, session ace, and all ’round musician extraordinaire! He and Even used to play together in Shining back in the day, so new, but familiar, and it’s been great!
They entered the new Amper Tone studios in Oslo, in August 2025, along with engineer Bård Ingebrigtsen. And then they were lucky enough to have Gard‘s friend, the great Johan Lindström, to add some pedal steel to a few of the tracks.
With a release date on the 29th of May, Ah, Les Vaches! is Bushman’s Revenge’s 12th record, the first with Kreken, the first with Lindström too, and the second on Is It Jazz? Records. The title means Ah, the cows, which supposedly were the dying words of the great composer, eccentric, and all-around hero of the band, Erik Satie.
The second taste of the album is the song Bram, which can be heard here:

This is what the band has to say about it:
This is the second single from our upcoming album Ah, Les Vaches! It features the usual suspects, Gard on drums and percussion, Even on a homemade baritone guitar, new face and ever the fresh faced-bass ace Tor Egil Kreken, as well as straight outta Stockholm, the fantastic Mr. Johan Lindström on pedal steel! Woo-hoo!
The song itself is dedicated to Even‘s old friend and classmate, who among other things, taught him about the important wonders of Dragon Ball and Manga.
Musically, this little ditty is sort of our take on traditional folk meets Jim Keltner, and Johan Lindström! It has a few twists and turns along the way, served with the usual general helping of happy-go-lucky, irreverent attitude. (So older, but still not wiser, it would appear.)
Maybe best suited for office parties, graduations, sweet sixteen’s, funerals or whenever a merry ‘ol time is needed. Otherwise, be warned, and crank this one at your own peril!

So, what can we expect from Bushman’s Revenge twelfth album? The band tries to explain this:
What kind of musical direction this time? Well, we’ve been all over the place, and back again several times already, through the years. This time we wanted to explore more of a “pop” direction. That is “pop” with a massive disclaimer. There’s perhaps a little more emphasis on shorter songs, simpler melodies, and “poppy” rhythms, and slightly less of the rock and the free jazz influences this time. We even do a cover of Stina Nordenstam‘s cover of Purple Rain! But nevertheless, it’s still very much a Bushman’s Revenge album, as weird as ever. We’re also old farts by this point, who have no idea what the kids are into. So, take the “pop” with a massive truckload of salt!
